In a swift resolution, the Basistha Police Station (PS) has solved a theft case and recovered all the stolen items within just 14 hours. The investigation was triggered by a theft report, leading the EGPD team to the residence of Mofida Begum, alias Koli (45), a resident of Bakrapara, who was identified as the receiver of the stolen goods.
Upon searching Begum’s house, police not only recovered the stolen items but also found a significant stash of suspected ganja, weighing 14.75 kg. The recovered stolen items included a Sony TV, TATA Sky set-top box, household items such as an electric rice cooker, plastic cups, soup bowls, plates, a hair straightener, and clothing items like Mekhela Sadars and a handmade cotton towel. Additionally, the police seized cash amounting to Rs 2,920 and 500 ten-rupee coins.
Begum has been arrested for her role in the theft and possession of illicit substances. Legal action has been initiated against her, and further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of her involvement.
