The Bhakti Nagar Police in Siliguri have successfully cracked a jewelry theft case that occurred last December at a private school’s staff quarters. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the theft: Baiju Sahani, Mohammad Zahirul alias Lalu, and Arjun Prasad.
The theft took place in broad daylight when gold jewelry was stolen from the quarters of Deenanath Prasad, a school employee living with his family. Prasad filed a complaint with Bhakti Nagar Police, which led to an investigation.
The breakthrough came when the police received a tip-off that led to the arrest of Baiju Sahani, a resident of Ratanlal Basti under Pradhan Nagar. During his remand, Sahani revealed that Mohammad Zahirul was also involved in the crime, prompting his arrest. Police recovered 5 grams of melted gold from Zahirul.
Further interrogation revealed that the stolen jewelry had been melted down and sold to a man named Arjun Prasad. Arjun was arrested, and 15 grams of melted gold were recovered from him.
Arjun Prasad was presented in court on Wednesday, and the investigation is still ongoing as police continue to probe the case further.
