Police Seal Cyber Cafe in Kalna for Selling Aadhaar Cards Illegally

In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, police have sealed a cyber cafe in Purbasthali, Kalna, for allegedly selling Aadhaar cards for cash. The operation came after authorities received a tip-off that the cafe was charging Rs 380 for online preparation and rectification services related to Aadhaar cards using the official Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) portal.

The raid was carried out by local police, who asked the cafe operators to produce the necessary valid business license documents. However, the youths operating the cafe failed to provide any legal documents. During the raid, police found that two dozen Aadhaar cards were being issued daily from the cafe, located near the Purbasthali Railway Station.

Authorities seized two laptops, mobile phones, and arrested two individuals: Sahadev Biswas and Rajesh Sheikh, who are now facing charges for their involvement in the illegal Aadhaar services. The cafe had been using the UIDAI portal without authorization to prepare and rectify Aadhaar cards, violating official protocols and engaging in fraudulent activities.

Police have confirmed that this is part of a larger illegal Aadhaar card racket and are investigating further to determine the full extent of the operation. They also warned the public about the risks of relying on unauthorized services for Aadhaar-related issues, urging individuals to use only official channels for any Aadhaar-related updates or corrections.

The Kalna police have vowed to intensify efforts against such cybercrime activities, especially those involving fraudulent services related to government IDs and official records.
