In a significant breakthrough, teams from the crime branch and local police arrested three individuals involved in a series of vehicle and solar panel thefts in Chandigarh.
In the first case, Mithlesh Kumar, a resident of Budhanpur, reported the theft of his auto-rickshaw from Sector 15 on February 18. A case was filed at the Sector-14 police station. On March 5, acting on secret information, the crime branch apprehended two suspects near Majri Chowk. The accused were identified as 21-year-old Sonu (alias Ninjha Hathori, alias Tunda) from Uttar Pradesh, and 25-year-old Simran (alias Simma) from Punjab. During questioning, they confessed to stealing six solar panels from Sector-3 Golf Club, which led to another case registered at the Sector-5 police station. Police successfully recovered the stolen auto-rickshaw and solar panels near Nada Saheb Gurdwara.
In a second case, Jatin Kumar, a resident of Chandigarh, reported his Activa scooter was stolen on February 26 from outside a temple in Saketri. A case was registered at the Mansa Devi police station. Based on CCTV footage and secret information, police arrested 19-year-old Saurabh, a native of Uttar Pradesh currently residing in Chandigarh. The stolen scooter was recovered from him.
These arrests have provided a significant lead in the ongoing efforts of Chandigarh Police to crack down on thefts in the region.
