Police Arrest Five Drug Peddlers, Seize Contraband in Srinagar, Kupwara, Anantnag

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Jammu & Kashmir police have arrested five drug peddlers across the Srinagar, Kupwara, and Anantnag districts, seizing large quantities of contraband substances from their possession.

In Srinagar, the police arrested Majid Shafi Najar, alias Choota Chaama, a resident of Chan Mohalla Allochibagh. He was apprehended at Allochibagh Bund with a substantial quantity of illicit drugs.

In Kupwara, Aijaz Ahmad Ganie and Hakim Din Khatana were arrested at FCI Bumhama after the police recovered 1220 grams of cannabis-like substance from them.

Further, in Aishmuqam, two men, Owais Mansoor Bhat and Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, both residents of Charakpora Hapatnard, were arrested after 7 kilograms of cannabis husk were seized.

Police have registered cases under the relevant sections of the law at the respective police stations and have initiated investigations to unravel the broader network of drug trafficking in the region.
