PNB Cashier Arrested for ₹59.67 Lakh Fraud in Karnal

A cashier at Punjab National Bank (PNB), Gitesh Kumar, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly committing a fraud of Rs59.67 lakh at the bank’s Sector 13 branch in Karnal.

The arrest came after the branch manager filed a complaint with the police, following suspicions of discrepancies in the branch’s financial transactions. According to Vishnumitra, the Station House Officer at Civil Lines Police Station, a case was registered against Gitesh Kumar under the relevant sections of financial fraud.

Kumar was produced in court, where he was sent to three-day police remand for further investigation into the fraudulent activities. The police are continuing their probe to uncover the full scope of the fraud and the mechanisms used by the cashier to carry out the illegal transactions.
