Plymouth Township Police Arrest Suspect After Burglary and High-Speed Chase

On December 25, 2024, at 10:38 a.m., Plymouth Township Police responded to a burglary in progress at Lowe’s on Chemical Road after the store’s remote monitoring system detected a man inside the closed store. Officers arrived to find a large Budget Rental box truck fleeing from the store’s garden center side. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Omar J. Dickens, attempted to evade police by ramming a marked police vehicle before continuing his flight.

Despite efforts to stop the truck, Dickens crashed it behind a Giant supermarket and fled on foot toward nearby train tracks. With assistance from Whitemarsh Township Police K9 Officer Jim Sweeney and his K9 partner Diesel, Dickens was found hiding in a drainage pipe near the railroad tracks and surrendered without further incident.

No injuries were reported during the incident, and Dickens was taken into custody. He now faces multiple felony charges, including burglary, theft, and criminal trespass, as well as several misdemeanors, such as fleeing from police and recklessly endangering others. Dickens is awaiting arraignment at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. The Plymouth Township Police Department was assisted by several local police agencies during the event.
