Three individuals, including Brain J. Testerman, 48, of Platte City, are facing charges following a series of warehouse thefts that resulted in the loss of over $200,000 worth of electronics in Kansas City. Testerman, Ryan M. Baker, and Kelsey Brightwell were involved in stealing and selling stolen electronics, including tablets, gaming consoles, and smart speakers.
The thefts took place between Sept. 8 and Sept. 15, when hundreds of electronics were stolen from the Forward Air Warehouse near Kansas City International Airport. Investigators identified Baker, 32, of Kansas City, from surveillance footage as the thief who took the items, and links to Brightwell, who was selling the stolen goods on Facebook Marketplace, were uncovered. A search of Brightwell’s home revealed over $8,000 in stolen electronics.
Testerman was found in possession of nearly $2,000 in stolen items given to him by Baker. Baker, who had previously worked at the warehouse, admitted to stealing the electronics out of frustration with the company.
Baker faces charges for stealing over $25,000, Brightwell for stealing over $750, and Testerman for similar charges. Baker remains in custody on a $75,000 bond, while Testerman is held on a $25,000 bond. Brightwell’s current status is unknown. Court hearings for the suspects are scheduled in December.
