The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two individuals, Marcus Harris, 31, and Kadwina Edwards, 32, following a major drug bust in Winterville, NC. The arrests were the result of a long-term investigation into the distribution and sale of drugs in the area, conducted by the Special Operations Unit and the Gang and Gun unit.
On Thursday, authorities executed a search warrant at an apartment on Patton Circle, where they discovered trafficking-level quantities of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and other drugs, as well as drug manufacturing precursors, paraphernalia, and $22,000 in cash. The drugs found were linked to an operation that has raised concerns about drug distribution within the county.
Marcus Harris has been charged with:
Felony trafficking in cocaine
Felony trafficking in opium/heroin
Three counts of felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver heroin
Felony manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana
Felony possession of a firearm by a felon
Felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substances
He is being held in jail under a $1,180,000 secured bond.
Kadwina Edwards faces charges including:
Felony trafficking in cocaine
Felony trafficking in opium/heroin
Felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver marijuana
Felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substances
Additionally, a third individual, James Elks, was arrested for a bench warrant related to a court proceeding in Beaufort County. Elks was taken into custody by Beaufort County deputies.
Authorities continue to investigate the extent of the operation, with these arrests sending a strong message about the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and gun violence in Pitt County.
