Pikeville Man Arrested for Stealing ATV, Facing Multiple Charges

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pikeville man has been arrested for allegedly stealing an ATV from Ken’s Towing in the city. Jeremy Petersen, 37, from Teaberry, was charged with criminal trespassing, burglary, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and several other offenses.

Petersen was apprehended after a detective, Colby Hobson, spotted a red four-wheeler matching the description of the stolen ATV. The detective radioed in the sighting, and Officer Alexis Stambaugh was able to catch up with Petersen on Julius Avenue, where he had locked himself in a condemned house with the stolen vehicle outside.

During the arrest, officers discovered that Petersen had outstanding warrants, including charges related to a previous car theft and a high-speed chase. Additionally, he was found in possession of methamphetamine.

The investigation was aided by community tips and surveillance footage, which helped identify Petersen as the thief.
