Phillaur Police Bust Drug Network, Arrest Three Female Peddlers

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Phillaur police have arrested three female drug peddlers and seized 160 narcotic pills as part of their ongoing anti-drug operations.

The arrested women, Anita Rani, wife of Mangat Ram, Rani, wife of Minda, and Preeti, wife of Harjinder, are all residents of Ganna village. The arrests were made following intelligence inputs regarding drug movement in the area.

According to SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh, a special team led by Inspector Sanjeev Kapur was formed to investigate the tip-off. The team intercepted Anita Rani on February 22, recovering 70 narcotic pills from her possession. Following her questioning, Rani and Preeti were apprehended on February 24, each in possession of 45 pills.

The accused women admitted to running a distribution network, sourcing drugs from nearby areas and selling them in neighbouring villages. All three have multiple prior NDPS Act cases against them. Anita has three prior drug-related cases from 2022 to 2024, while Rani and Preeti also have similar histories of involvement in narcotic-related offenses.

The police have registered cases at Phillaur Police Station and will produce the accused in court to seek police remand. SSP Khakh has urged citizens to assist the police by providing any information related to drug trafficking activities.
