PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) – A man from Pineville has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the disappearance of Brenda Kay White from Alexandria. The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO) announced the arrest after DNA evidence linked Philip Barry Felter to White’s death.
In May 2024, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) reported White’s disappearance, prompting an investigation. By August 2024, APD identified Felter as a potential suspect. The RPSO noted that Felter was already in custody from a joint investigation with the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office. He was previously charged with second-degree murder and illegal disposal of human remains for the 2024 killing of Buster Evans.
The investigation revealed that White had been living with Felter on Bohannon Road in Pineville at the time of her disappearance. Given Felter’s involvement in Evans’ death, RPSO began treating White’s case as a homicide.
On March 7, 2025, detectives established sufficient probable cause to charge Felter with the second-degree murder of White, based on DNA evidence. Felter was re-arrested on this new charge and is being held on a total bond of $2.25 million.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case or the location of White’s remains to contact Detective Matt Dauzat at the Tioga Substation of the Criminal Investigations Division at 318-641-6005, the RPSO main office at 318-473-6700, or Crime Stoppers at 318-443-7867.
