Person County Commissioner Tracy Ellixson Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

A Person County commissioner is in custody Wednesday after being arrested on domestic violence-related charges. Tracy Ellixson, 51, was taken into custody following an incident on February 2.

Ellixson, who serves on the Person County Board of Commissioners, faces several charges, including misdemeanor domestic violence, communicating threats, assault by pointing a gun, and false imprisonment. Sheriff Jason Wilborn confirmed the arrest, noting that Ellixson is being held without bond due to the nature of the domestic violence charges.

According to court records, Ellixson allegedly pointed a black handgun at his wife and threatened to kill her. The incident was reported to the Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, leading to an investigation. To avoid any conflict of interest, Sheriff Wilborn contacted the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), which assisted in obtaining the warrants for Ellixson’s arrest. Deputies served the warrants after stopping Ellixson’s vehicle during a traffic stop.

Ellixson also faces a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon. He was arrested around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The investigation is ongoing, and more charges could be added. Ellixson is scheduled to appear in District Court on May 1.

The 51-year-old is in his first term as a commissioner for Person County.
