Pedro Lara Arrested for Stealing Infiniti, Driving into Mexico

LAREDO, TX — A 22-year-old man, Pedro Lara, was arrested after driving a stolen vehicle into Mexico, authorities confirmed.

Lara was taken into custody on February 13 following an arrest warrant for theft of property (a third-degree felony) and unauthorized use of a vehicle (a state jail felony). His charges stemmed from a January 5th incident when a Laredo resident reported the theft of his 2020 Infiniti QX80.

Investigations revealed that Lara drove the stolen vehicle across the Gateway to the Americas International Bridge into Mexico on the morning of January 5th at approximately 3:29 a.m. The car was valued at around $30,000.

Authorities issued an alert for the suspect and later identified Pedro Lara as the driver. U.S. Customs and Border Protection assisted in confirming Lara’s identity, sharing a photo of him walking back into the U.S. on January 6th at approximately 7 p.m.

Lara now faces serious charges related to the theft and unauthorized use of the vehicle. His arrest marks the culmination of an ongoing investigation by Laredo police and customs officials.
