Patna police have arrested three individuals, including a couple, in connection with the murder of 30-year-old Deepak Kumar, a private company agent. The victim’s body was discovered on February 2 along the Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama four-lane highway in the Athmalgola police station area.
The investigation revealed that Deepak’s murder was the result of a financial dispute involving an amount of Rs 2 lakh. Deepak and the main accused, Aniket, worked together at the same company, and Aniket claimed that Deepak owed him the money.
To carry out the crime, Aniket conspired with his girlfriend, Khushboo Kumari, and his friend, Krishna Kumar. Deepak was lured to Krishna’s aunt’s house under the pretext of a job offer in another company. Once there, an argument broke out over the money, and Aniket, Khushboo, and Krishna strangled Deepak to death before dumping his body along the highway.
Rural SP Vikram Sihag confirmed that key evidence was recovered from the accused, including Deepak’s cellphone, ATM cards, SIM cards, and Rs 1,000 in cash. The police also seized two cellphones used in the crime. The investigation was assisted by the Forensic Science Lab (FSL) team and the dog squad, which provided crucial leads.
The arrested suspects will be remanded to judicial custody, with further investigation ongoing.
