Pastor James Wanjohi Faces Fraud Allegations in Job Scams

Pastor James Wanjohi of Jesus Culture Ministries is under investigation by detectives for allegedly defrauding job seekers of over Sh600 million through a foreign jobs scam. This comes as directors of another recruitment agency, Amble Beginning Consult Limited, have been summoned to the Nairobi Area Police over claims of swindling more than Sh800 million from Kenyans seeking employment abroad.

The directors of Amble Beginning Consult, including Alphonse Kioko Kivindu and Chief Executive Anderson Njeru, are expected to respond to allegations that they deceived at least 1,100 individuals with promises of job opportunities overseas.

This summons follows the recent questioning of Pastor Wanjohi, who is linked to a similar job scam involving significant financial losses for job seekers.

Nairobi Regional DCI boss Peter Nthigah confirmed the investigation, indicating that many victims are travel agents who received funds from clients with the expectation of securing jobs through Amble Beginning Consult.

“This is the second recruitment agency we are investigating after Worthstart Africa, which is also linked to Pastor Wanjohi. We are looking into claims that this agency swindled victims out of Sh800 million,” Nthigah stated.

Last week, police raided the offices of Amble Beginning Consult at 4th Avenue Plaza, confiscating documents and electronic devices as part of their investigation.

Despite these serious allegations, Anderson Njeru stated that their company is not at fault. He insisted they engage only in labor consultancy and do not recruit directly, asserting that the recruitment agencies handle the job placements. Njeru shifted blame onto these agencies for failing to refund clients who did not secure job placements, leading to the complaints against his company.
