The Parappana Agrahara police have arrested Shabaz Khan (26), a delivery executive, and his associate, Om Sunil (19), a security guard, for their involvement in a series of bike thefts across Bengaluru. The police recovered 13 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs12.7 lakh from the accused.
The arrest took place after the police intercepted the duo while they were riding suspiciously on a bike near Rayasandra Lake. Upon questioning, the police discovered that Shabaz Khan, who worked as a delivery executive for an online marketing company, had been involved in the thefts, along with his associate, Om Sunil, who worked as a security guard at a private firm.
The stolen motorcycles were recovered, and police have confirmed that the bikes were taken from various locations across the city. The duo would often steal the bikes and then try to sell them to unsuspecting buyers, using fake documents to disguise the stolen goods.
According to the police, the suspects would carefully choose their targets, often taking advantage of parked bikes in poorly lit or less secure areas. They would then either hotwire the bikes or use other means to steal them. Once they had the bikes, they would keep them hidden in various locations and later attempt to sell them.
The Parappana Agrahara police are continuing to investigate the duo’s network, as they suspect that they may have been part of a larger group involved in bike thefts. The police are working to identify any other stolen property linked to their activities and are urging the public to come forward if they suspect they may have purchased stolen bikes from the accused.
Both Shabaz Khan and Om Sunil are in police custody and are being questioned regarding their role in the thefts. The police have also started looking into the possibility of other accomplices who may have helped in the thefts or facilitated the sale of the stolen bikes.
