Palghar Police Arrest Key Member of Bag-Lifting Gang, Recover Rs 8 Lakh

In a major breakthrough, the police in Maharashtra’s Palghar district have arrested one of the key members of a notorious bag-lifting gang responsible for stealing cash and valuables worth Rs 8 lakh during a wedding. The arrested individual has been identified as Vilaskumar Ramjilal Sisodia (34), also known as Sati.

The theft took place last month during a wedding ceremony in Virar, Palghar, when a bag containing cash and gold ornaments, belonging to the bride’s family, was stolen. Following the incident, the police initiated an extensive investigation that involved reviewing CCTV footage, tracking leads, and gathering witness testimonies.

Police discovered that the gang used minors to carry out these thefts, particularly at crowded events like weddings, which allowed them to avoid suspicion. This organized crime operation has been active across various locations, targeting gatherings to steal valuables.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jayant Bajbale, confirmed that Sisodia was arrested after the investigation linked him to the crime, and further inquiries revealed that this gang had been operating in multiple states.
