DALLAS — Omar Zavala, an El Salvadorian man who had been illegally residing in the U.S., was arrested in Mesquite on Friday. Zavala had been placed on Texas’ “10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrant” list since its inception in June 2024.
Wanted on multiple charges, including sexual assault, terroristic threats, and obstruction, Zavala’s arrest was the result of a coordinated effort involving several law enforcement agencies. DPS agents from the Texas Anti-Gang Center in Houston, the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, and local law enforcement teams all worked together to track down and apprehend Zavala.
Authorities are continuing to investigate Zavala’s case following his arrest.
