Ohio Woman, 74, Arrested for Alleged Credit Union Robbery Amid Scam Claims

Ann Mayers, a 74-year-old Ohio resident, was arrested for attempting to rob the AurGroup Credit Union in Fairfield Township. Police reports indicate that Mayers entered the bank on April 19, displayed a handgun, and demanded money, leaving with $500. Officers later located her at home, where they recovered a loaded handgun and other evidence linking her to the crime.

Mayers, who had no known criminal history, reportedly fell victim to an online scam that cost her thousands, possibly fueling her actions. Her family suspects she was scammed online, leading to debts owed to friends and family. Mayers faces charges of aggravated robbery with a firearm and tampering with evidence and remains in custody on a $100,000 bond.
