Ohio Man Ra’Shawn Marquios Carter Arrested for $50K Scam

Ra’Shawn Marquios Carter, an Ohio man, is facing felony theft by swindle charges after allegedly scamming three people out of nearly $50,000. The charges, filed in Itasca County, accuse Carter of targeting two Grand Rapids residents and one in Hibbing.

The scam involved Carter impersonating a person’s grandson, claiming that he was in jail and needed bail money. Carter personally visited the victims at their homes to collect the money. In one case, he even entered one of the victim’s homes to carry out the scam.

Carter was arrested on Monday by Grand Rapids Police after the investigation into the fraudulent scheme.
