Ohio Man Arrested for Stealing Trailer with Nutcracker Props

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. — A 20-year-old man from Toledo, Ohio, has been arrested for allegedly stealing a trailer containing important props for the Plymouth-Canton Ballet Company’s upcoming performance of The Nutcracker.

The theft occurred on November 17 outside the ballet company’s dance studio on Ronda Drive in Canton Township. The black, enclosed 24-foot trailer housed large props for the performance, and its loss prompted the ballet company to raise nearly $19,000 through a GoFundMe campaign to replace the stolen equipment.

Brandon Keel was identified as the suspect and arrested on December 17. He faces charges of larceny of property valued at $20,000 or more, and receiving and concealing stolen property. Keel was arraigned in both Canton and Plymouth townships, with a bond set at $20,000. His next court hearing is scheduled for December 27.
