The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with separate thefts, leading to the recovery of stolen goods.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Omolola Odutola, operatives from the Idanyin Division arrested Sadiq Adebayo for allegedly stealing burglary proofs from an uncompleted building in the Imutu Ayanre community.
On December 29, 2024, the chairman of the Imutu Ayanre community, Yekinni Wasiu, alerted the police after catching Adebayo in the act of dismantling burglary-proof materials from a neighbor’s uncompleted structure.
During questioning, Adebayo confessed to committing similar thefts on several occasions, selling the stolen items to a scrap dealer, Abdullahi Sulaimon. Investigators recovered some of the stolen materials from the scene and arrested Sulaimon, who is now under investigation.
In another related case on the same day, a man named Seun alerted authorities upon seeing Adekoya Odunowo carrying a sack believed to contain stolen electric wires. Further investigation revealed that Odunowo had stolen six weight moulders from block industries located along the Ilisan-Ago-Iwoye expressway. The stolen items, valued at N150,000 each, were sold to another scrap dealer, Rabiu Ismaila, in Idode, Ago-Iwoye. Both Odunowo and Ismaila were arrested, and the stolen goods were recovered.
The PPRO stated that the suspects would be charged in court once the investigation is completed, assuring the public that further updates would follow.
These arrests highlight the Ogun State Police Command’s ongoing efforts to combat theft and safeguard public property.
