Odisha Youth Arrested for IPS Job Scam, Defrauds Rs 30 Lakh

Kanha Patra, a youth from Odisha, has been arrested for allegedly orchestrating a fraudulent scheme that defrauded over Rs30 lakh from a young man from West Bengal. The accused hails from the Srimannagar area under Nimakhandi police limits in Berhampur, Odisha.

Patra reportedly connected with the victim, a youth from Birbhum, West Bengal, through a social media platform. Posing as a high-ranking Inspector General (IG), Patra assured the victim that he could secure an Indian Police Service (IPS) job for him. He promised the position in exchange for a large sum of money.

The victim, trusting the false claims, paid the required amount, which totaled over Rs30 lakh. However, after the payment, the victim became suspicious and reported the matter to the police.

A West Bengal Police team, with the help of local authorities, successfully arrested Patra. He has been taken into five-day remand for further questioning.

This incident highlights the growing issue of unemployed youths falling victim to fraudulent job offers in various parts of the country. The police are continuing their investigation into the case and warn others to be cautious of similar scams.
