Nursing Mother Taiwo Badru Arrested for Bank Fraud in Osun

The Osun State Amotekun Corps has arrested 31-year-old Taiwo Badru, a nursing mother, for allegedly impersonating a bank manager and committing fraud. Badru, who resides in Ororuwo town in the Boripe Local Government Area, reportedly used a masculine voice to deceive individuals into believing she was offering loans on behalf of a bank.

Amotekun Corps Commander, retired CSP Isaac Omoyele, announced the arrest during a press briefing in Osogbo on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Badru was apprehended on Saturday, October 19, 2024, after receiving a tip-off.

Omoyele stated that Badru had previously engaged in similar fraudulent activities in Lagos State before moving to Osun. On the day of her arrest, she had allegedly defrauded a victim, Fatai Saidi, of N4.5 million and was in the process of attempting another scam when Amotekun operatives intervened.

During interrogation, Badru confessed to her crimes, claiming she used the stolen funds to support her family. Alongside her, several other suspects were paraded, including Musbau Saheed Ganiyu, Afeez Ayuba, Awal Adebayo, Ilerioluwa Nurudeen, Olalekan Mashood, Kayode Odesanmi, and Rasheed Abdullahi, who are also accused of theft and obtaining money under false pretenses.

Commander Omoyele assured the public that all suspects would be handed over to the appropriate security agency for further investigation and prosecution. The Amotekun Corps, a regional security outfit in southwest Nigeria, reiterated its commitment to combating criminal activities in the state.
