Nurpur district police have successfully apprehended four gang members involved in a theft in the Nurpur area. The theft case, which was registered at the Nurpur police station in August 2024, followed the stealing of saria (reinforcing bars) worth Rs 2.5 lakh from Suraj Sharma’s shop in Baranda.
Nurpur SP Ashok Ratan confirmed that after a detailed investigation and analysis of the evidence, the police identified the culprits. Three suspects had already been arrested, and the fourth gang member, identified as Kala, from Kahanpur village, Pathankot, was apprehended on Monday during a raid on his suspected locations.
The investigation began with the arrest of Babbi, from Barath Sahib (Sarna) in Pathankot, and Maskeen Ali from Kathua, who were arrested a few months ago. Following their arrests, the police also apprehended Sourabh from Sujanpur (Pathankot), who had purchased the stolen saria.
