NITA Director Stephen Ogenga Arrested in Tender Fraud Case

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested Stephen Ogenga, the Director General of the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), for his alleged involvement in the irregular awarding of a Sh28.4 million tender during the 2017/18 financial year.

Ogenga was taken into custody along with his wife, Elizabeth Achieng’, who is accused of obstructing EACC officials during the operation. The disputed tender was for the supply, installation, and maintenance of sewing and training machines, awarded to M/S Xponics Limited for a total of Sh28,411,620.

In addition, former NITA Director General Paul Kipsang’ Kosgei has been summoned to report to the EACC headquarters on Monday, June 3, 2024, regarding the same allegations.

Also arrested were the directors of Xponics Limited, James Waweru and Sheila Wambui Nyakinyua. All arrested individuals are set to face charges on Monday.
