Nirmal Gogoi Arrested in Connection to 2019 Assam Murder Case

After nearly five years of evading the law, Nirmal Gogoi, a 30-year-old man from Assam, has been arrested in connection to the murder of a youth from Assam in 2019. The murder, which took place near the Marakadavu fishing boat jetty in Mattancherry, Kochi, saw the victim’s body dumped in a lake.

The incident took place in 2019, when the victim, a youth from Assam, was brutally murdered by a group of individuals, with the body being abandoned at the jetty. While the police had arrested four individuals shortly after the crime, Gogoi managed to flee and had been evading capture ever since.

Following years of investigation, the police received a tip-off that Gogoi was hiding in Dibrugarh district, Assam. A team from Mattancherry police station successfully apprehended him and brought him back to Kochi. He was remanded to judicial custody and will now face trial for his role in the brutal murder.

This arrest marks a significant development in the case that had long remained unresolved. The police are continuing their investigation, and more information regarding the crime and Gogoi’s involvement is expected to come to light during the proceedings.
