a breakthrough within 24 hours, Jabalpur Police arrested nine individuals in connection with a mass murder case in the Patan area, officials announced on Tuesday.
The brutal killings occurred in Timri village, under the jurisdiction of Jabalpur’s Patan police station. Four young men were murdered with sharp weapons, and two others were left severely injured. The victims’ families, devastated by the loss, staged a protest and blocked roads, demanding justice.
The police launched an immediate search operation, arresting seven of the accused from a hotel in Pachmarhi, while two others were apprehended in different locations within Jabalpur.
According to the police, the murders were premeditated and stemmed from a longstanding enmity between two local families, the Pathaks and the Sahus, which began during a panchayat election dispute. The accused lured the victims to a tea stall, where they attacked them with swords, axes, and sticks in broad daylight.
The deceased victims were identified as Satish Pathak, Manish Pathak, Aniket Dubey, and Sameer Dubey. The two injured individuals, Bipin Dubey and Mukesh Dubey, are receiving treatment.
Jabalpur SP Sampat Upadhyay stated that all the accused fled to Pachmarhi following the incident. The arrested suspects—Narayan Sahu, Chandrabhan Sahu, Dinnu Sahu, Manoj Sahu, Sarvesh Sahu, Vivek Sahu, Amit Sahu, Pradeep Sahu, and Sandeep Namdev—are currently being interrogated.
An FIR has been filed against the accused under relevant sections, and police revealed that six of the arrested individuals have prior criminal records. Additionally, the Nunsar outpost in-charge has been held responsible for negligence, and further actions will be taken based on ongoing investigations.
