The Nigerian Army has arrested 25-year-old Shamsiyya Ahadu for possession of 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines. Ahadu was apprehended alongside her accomplice, a motorcycle rider named Ahmed Husaini, in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to a statement from the Nigerian Army, the weapons were intended for delivery to terrorist kingpin Bello Turji’s camp. The arrest occurred on December 28, following an intelligence report about the movement of arms and ammunition along the road from Kware to Badarawa.
Troops from 1 Brigade, Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma set up a roadblock in response to the intelligence, leading to the swift capture of the suspects. Both Ahadu and Husaini are currently under investigation by the appropriate authorities.
The Army thanked the local community for their continued support and urged the public to remain vigilant in providing credible information to aid the fight against terrorism and illegal arms trafficking.
Operation Fansan Yamma remains focused on dismantling terrorist networks and preventing the illegal movement of weapons in the region.
