Melissa Nance, principal of Nichols Elementary School, has been arrested and charged with conspiracy, intent to defraud, and making fraudulent statements. These charges were issued by the State Auditor’s Office, though they are unrelated to her role within the Biloxi School District, according to WLBT.
Following her arrest, Nance was placed on administrative leave by the district. Jennifer Pyron, a spokesperson for Biloxi School District, expressed continued support for Nance, emphasizing her longstanding record of success. “Mrs. Nance is a long-time employee and principal with an excellent record of success in the Biloxi Public School District. As we await the outcome of these allegations, we will continue to cooperate fully with the State Auditor’s Office,” Pyron stated.
Nance was taken into custody on Wednesday morning and is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
