Newton Couple, John Davis and Lauren Parkison, Arrested in Mail Theft Case

NEWTON, Iowa — Authorities arrested a man and woman on Tuesday, both suspects in a mail theft investigation that had been ongoing since early January. According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began when local residents reported stolen mail, followed by the unauthorized use of credit cards and checks.

The suspects, identified as 32-year-old John Davis and 30-year-old Lauren Parkison, are from Newton. Investigators quickly connected them to the crimes after victims reported fraud linked to stolen mail. The sheriff’s office was able to trace the vehicles used by the suspects.

On Tuesday, officials located the couple at an apartment complex in Newton. When authorities approached, Davis attempted to flee the scene, but was apprehended shortly after returning to an apartment believed to be connected to him and Parkison. Parkison was detained on the spot.

A search warrant was executed at the apartment, and two vehicles were seized for further investigation. The couple faces a series of charges related to their alleged involvement in the thefts and fraud.
