New York Man Arrested for Attempted Theft at Burlington Coat Factory in Enfield

ENFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — A New York man was arrested on Saturday afternoon after attempting to steal hundreds of items from the Burlington Coat Factory in Enfield. Police responded to a theft report around 4:30 p.m. and took Alexander Puello, 26, of New York City, into custody after he allegedly resisted arrest, causing a minor injury to an officer.

Puello faces multiple charges, including assault on a police officer, interfering with a police officer, organized retail theft, larceny in the third degree, conspiracy to commit larceny in the third degree, and possession of a shoplifting device.

Authorities recovered 261 items from the scene, which included five shopping carts filled with shoes, a cart with purses and bags, and five luggage bags.

Puello is being held on a $100,000 bond. Police are still searching for a woman believed to have been involved in the theft, who managed to flee the scene.
