Nepalese Drug Peddler Arrested at India-Nepal Border with Morphine

A drug peddler was arrested in the Gaur Singh Jote area of Panitanki, located on the India-Nepal border in Kharibari, with narcotics in his possession. The accused, identified as Birkha Bahadur Sunuwar, is a resident of Nepal.

According to police sources, personnel from the 41st Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) apprehended Sunuwar during a routine campaign in the area. He had reportedly crossed into India from Nepal with the intention of selling drugs. During the search, authorities found 63 grams of morphine and a mobile phone in his possession. The seized drugs are estimated to be worth lakhs of rupees in the market.

Following the arrest, the SSB handed over Sunuwar to the Kharibari police station. On Tuesday, he was presented before the Siliguri court. The police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter to uncover more details about the drug network involved.
