Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested Egwu Phillip Inya, a suspected drug trafficker posing as a building engineer. He was apprehended while attempting to take delivery of illicit consignments concealed in pressure machines imported from South Africa.
The 42-year-old, who was arrested on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Okeyson Motor Park in Enugu, was found with three units of pressure machines containing 7.4 kilograms of Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis. The consignment had arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos on November 29, 2024. NDLEA officers had been monitoring the shipment and followed it to a logistics company warehouse before it was redirected to Enugu at the last minute.
In a separate operation, on Friday, December 6, 2024, NDLEA operatives in Adamawa state recovered 511,000 tramadol pills from a Siena vehicle, which was abandoned by its occupants after they noticed they were being followed.
Meanwhile, in Ekiti state, two suspects, Olanrewaju Alale (48) and Babatunde Kayode Ijadahun (55), were arrested with 1,323 kilograms of cannabis in a bus heading to Ondo state. Another suspect, Adekunle Yusuf (33), was also arrested with 704 kilograms of cannabis in Oyo state on the same day.
In Lagos, 65-year-old grandmother Ramata Bola Adeyemo was arrested with 20.6 liters of codeine-based syrup, while Alhaji Lawan Manga was arrested with cannabis and tramadol.
The NDLEA continues its efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks across Nigeria.
