The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has successfully busted a drug trafficking racket in Central Mumbai, seizing five kilograms of mephedrone valued at Rs 10 crore. The accused, identified as M S Shaikh, was apprehended on July 18 in Sion after the NCB acted on credible intelligence.

Shaikh, a resident of Andheri, had sourced the mephedrone from Hyderabad to distribute it across Mumbai and its suburbs. Investigations have confirmed that he was involved in inter-state trafficking of the drug. The seizure of the narcotic was made under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The NCB continues to probe the network behind this large-scale drug trafficking operation.
