In a major breakthrough, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai has arrested two foreign nationals involved in an international drug trafficking operation. Zambian national Andy Leslie Gilmore (25) and Tanzanian woman Rehema Augustino Mbonera were apprehended in connection with the seizure of 2 kilograms of cocaine valued at Rs20 crore.
On November 9, based on specific intelligence, NCB officials conducted a raid at a hotel near the domestic airport in Vile Parle (East), Mumbai. Gilmore was found in possession of the illegal drug, which was intended for delivery in New Delhi.
Following his arrest, Gilmore cooperated with investigators and revealed that he had been involved in trafficking narcotic substances to India for a long time. He also identified Mbonera as the intended recipient of the seized consignment. Mbonera is said to be involved in various aspects of drug trafficking, including procurement, transportation, and distribution in India.
The NCB acted swiftly on Gilmore’s disclosure and coordinated with the NCB New Delhi team. On November 10, they arrested Mbonera in New Delhi, and she was brought to Mumbai for further interrogation.
