MORAVIAN FALLS, N.C. (WBTV) – A man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his grandmother, Betty Tedder, in Alexander County.
The incident took place on Monday, November 25, around 9:15 p.m. when deputies conducted a welfare check at a home along Russell Gap Road. Upon arrival, authorities discovered 86-year-old Betty Tedder deceased, with signs of apparent trauma.
The sheriff’s office said the call for the welfare check came from a concerned family member. During the investigation, deputies found Tedder’s 39-year-old grandson, Nathan Lowe, inside the home. Lowe was arrested and charged with murder.
In addition to the murder charge, Lowe faces an additional charge of malicious conduct by a prisoner. He is being held without bond and is scheduled for his first court appearance in Alexander County District Court on December 2.
