Narsingh Mungoda Held for Fatally Stabbing Abusive Father

In a tragic incident rooted in years of domestic abuse, 31-year-old Narsingh Mungoda was arrested by BKC police on Sunday for fatally stabbing his 65-year-old father, Raju Mungoda, during a violent altercation at their Valmiki Nagar residence in Bandra East.

The fatal event unfolded on Saturday evening after Raju returned home intoxicated and allegedly assaulted his wife, triggering a heated argument. Narsingh, employed as a housekeeper and the family’s sole breadwinner, attempted to intervene. When the confrontation escalated, he reportedly stabbed his father in the chest with a kitchen knife.

Police confirmed the weapon used in the attack has been seized.

The first information report (FIR) was filed by Preeti Dulgaj, the 23-year-old daughter of the deceased, who works as a housekeeper. Upon hearing of her father’s condition while at work, she rushed home and found him lying outside their home with a severe chest wound. He was rushed to Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Sion, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

According to investigating officers, Raju had a history of violent behavior fueled by alcohol and had repeatedly assaulted his wife. This ongoing cycle of abuse is believed to have driven Narsingh to his breaking point.

Narsingh was presented before the Bandra court and has been remanded in police custody until April 11.
