In a significant breakthrough, police have arrested two men in West Bengal in connection with the theft of gold from a jewellery-manufacturing unit located in Choolai, Chennai.

The unit, operated by 49-year-old Naresh Kumar on Raja Muthiah Salai, employs over 50 workers. The case unfolded on May 19, when five workers suddenly went missing and could not be contacted. Their disappearance raised suspicions, leading to a complaint and subsequent investigation.

Acting on leads, the police tracked two suspects to West Bengal, where they were arrested for their suspected involvement in the gold theft. Authorities believe the missing workers may have played a role in the incident and are working to trace the others.

Further investigations are ongoing to recover the stolen valuables and determine the full extent of the operation.
