Naharlagun Police Arrest Five Drug Peddlers, Seize Heroin in Operation Dawn

The Naharlagun Police have successfully apprehended five interstate drug peddlers and seized a large quantity of heroin following a four-day operation named Operation Dawn, as confirmed by Mihin Gambo, Superintendent of Police, ICR Naharlagun.

On 12th November 2024, the police received credible intelligence regarding a group transporting a significant quantity of suspected heroin from Assam to Banderdewa in a white Toyota Urban Cruiser vehicle with registration number AR01 Q3566. Acting swiftly on this information, a dedicated police team was formed to intercept the vehicle at the Karsingsa block point.

The police successfully intercepted the vehicle and arrested two suspects identified as Nabam Toni (27), a resident of Nirjuli, and Tana Tamin (30), a resident of Khola Camp, Doimukh, in Papum Pare district.

The operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the Naharlagun Police to combat the growing issue of drug trafficking in the region and ensure the safety of its citizens. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the source and distribution network of the contraband heroin.
