A 25-year-old engineering student from Nagpur has been arrested for allegedly murdering his parents after a dispute over his career. Utkarsh Dhakole, a student who had repeatedly failed his engineering subjects, reportedly killed his parents over their insistence that he quit the course. The incident took place on December 26, but it was not discovered until Wednesday morning, when a foul odor emanating from the Dhakole household alerted neighbors to the crime.
The victims were identified as Liladhar Dhakole (55), a social worker employed at a thermal plant, and Aruna Dhakole (50), a private school teacher. Police revealed that the dispute had been ongoing for some time, with Utkarsh’s parents urging him to leave engineering due to his academic failures.
After committing the crime, Utkarsh left the bodies in the house for six days before the smell led to the discovery of the tragic event. Police have arrested him and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crime.
