Mykael Weathington Arrested for Murder of 17-Year-Old in Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs, Colo. — On Tuesday, Colorado Springs Police announced the arrest of 18-year-old Mykael Weathington in connection with the November shooting death of a 17-year-old male.

The incident occurred on November 26, around 10:36 p.m., when police responded to a report of gunshots on the 1900 block of Chelton Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, a 17-year-old male, with at least one gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

An arrest warrant for Mykael Weathington was issued on November 27, charging him with first-degree murder. Weathington was taken into custody on December 6 by Colorado Springs’ tactical enforcement unit and the violent offender fugitive task forces.

As of Tuesday, the coroner’s office has yet to release the name of the 17-year-old victim, and police are continuing their investigation. They are urging anyone with information to contact them at 719-444-4000 or to submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
