Muventhan Two Others Held in Muttam Double Murder

A violent altercation turned deadly in Muttam village late Friday (February 14, 2025), resulting in the deaths of two men and injuries to another. Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the double murder.

The incident stemmed from a long-standing dispute between M. Muventhan (24) and R. Dinesh (28), both residents of North Street, Muttam. Police said the two had a heated argument on Thursday evening (February 13), which was broken up by local residents.

However, tensions flared again the next night. Around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, while Dinesh was speaking with his friends — K. Harish (25), B. Sakthi (20), and K. Ajay (19) — they were ambushed by Muventhan, M. Thangathurai (28), and R. Rajkumar (34).

The attackers, armed with knives, allegedly assaulted the group. Dinesh and another man succumbed to their injuries, while a third individual was hospitalized.

Police quickly responded and registered a case. All three accused were arrested and remain in custody as investigations continue.
