Multiple Drug Peddlers Arrested in Assam Police Raids, Heroin Seized

In a significant series of police operations across Assam, authorities have arrested multiple drug peddlers and seized substantial amounts of heroin.

At Laharighat Police Station (PS), a raid in Amaraguri led to the recovery of 11.26 grams of suspected heroin. Mustafa Ahmed, Mirajul Ali, and Jushnara Begum were arrested in connection with the operation, and legal proceedings are underway.

Meanwhile, a team from Basistha Police under East Guwahati Police District arrested Manash Jyoti Medhi from Kerakuchi in Beharbari, recovering 12 vials of heroin weighing 16.17 grams. In Pan Bazar, police apprehended Sahidul Islam, alias Babu, of Bilasipara, seizing 22 vials of heroin weighing 29.43 grams from his possession.

In Tinsukia, police successfully dismantled a drug smuggling ring with the arrest of Bitu Gohain and Natey Ekka. The two were caught near the New Tinsukia Railway Station after arriving from Dimapur on the Awadh Assam Express. A large consignment of heroin, hidden in four plastic bags, was seized from their possession. This operation, coordinated by Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Tinsukia Nishant Saurabh, was based on solid intelligence.

These coordinated efforts by police across multiple districts highlight the state’s ongoing commitment to combating drug trafficking and smuggling networks. Legal proceedings are continuing as the investigation into these cases expands.
