Muhammad Malik & Yadiel Baez Arrested in Greenwich Car Theft Case

GREENWICH, Conn. – Two men were arrested in Rye, New York following a car theft investigation led by Greenwich detectives, authorities confirmed.

Muhammad Abdul Malik (19) and Yadiel Baez (20) were spotted driving a Nissan through the Belle Haven neighborhood, stopping at driveways in a manner consistent with known car theft patterns. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled onto the I-95 southbound on-ramp at Field Point Road.

Police deployed tire deflation devices, successfully flattening three tires, but did not pursue the vehicle after it sped away at high speed. The suspects later abandoned the car in Rye, NY, where they were arrested by Rye Police and charged with obstructing governmental administration.

Greenwich police confirm that the investigation remains ongoing.
