The Sulur police arrested two individuals on Thursday in connection with a chain snatching incident that occurred on March 31 in the Sulur area. The accused have been identified as Mubarak Ali (32) from Erode and Pradeep Kumar (23) from Puliyakulam, Coimbatore.
The duo allegedly snatched the chain of a 65-year-old woman within Sulur police station limits. However, while attempting to flee, they met with an accident at Neelambur. As a result, Ali sustained fractures to his right upper and left lower limbs, while Kumar fractured his right arm.
Following medical treatment, both men were remanded in judicial custody. Police revealed that Mubarak Ali is a repeat offender involved in over 20 cases, while Pradeep Kumar has three prior cases against him.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of their criminal activities.
