Moirabari and Golaghat Police Arrest Drug Peddlers, Seize Heroin

In a coordinated operation, Moirabari Police arrested two men for possessing heroin. The duo, identified as Noshed Ali and Mubarak Ali, were caught with 6.13 grams of suspected heroin after the police raided Sahariapam based on reliable intelligence. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them.

In a separate but related effort, Golaghat Police conducted a major anti-drug raid that led to the seizure of 18.56 grams of heroin. The operation resulted in the arrest of two male and one female drug peddlers. This was the second significant drug disposal operation in Golaghat within the span of three weeks.

Earlier this year, on January 18, Golaghat Police successfully destroyed narcotics valued at over Rs 12 lakh, including heroin and cannabis, which were seized in various raids between January 1 and January 17. The destruction process was carried out under the guidelines of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, with all necessary samples retained for legal purposes.

Golaghat SP Rajen Singh supervised the destruction of the seized drugs, citing security concerns and the risk of theft or accidents if the narcotics were stored for too long. The operation highlighted the police’s commitment to tackling drug trafficking and keeping communities safe.

Citizens are encouraged to assist police in their anti-drug efforts by reporting suspicious activities linked to drug trade in their areas.
