Mohamed Shire and Gibriil Bakal, two suspects in separate homicides in Ottawa, have been placed on Canada’s most wanted list, according to the Bolo Program. The list, issued on Wednesday, highlights the top 25 wanted fugitives in Canada.

Gibriil Bakal, 30, of Edmonton, is wanted for the shooting death of Jama Roble on January 29, 2024, in Ottawa, which marked the city’s first homicide of the year. Bakal is described as a 6-foot-1 Black man weighing 190 pounds, and is ranked eighth on the list.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Shire, 34, of Toronto, is facing charges of first-degree murder in the deaths of brothers Abdulaziz and Mohamed Abdullah in May 2021. He is listed at number 11 on the wanted list, with the Bolo Program offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. Two other suspects, Abdullahi Osman and Ahmed Siyad, have already been arrested in connection with the killings.
