Mohamad Faizul Baharudin Arrested for Fraudulent Pilot Scheme

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 — Mohamad Faizul Baharudin, 44, was arrested last week after six years on the run, accused of deceiving a woman out of RM24,000 by promising a non-existent pilot job. He pleaded not guilty to the charges at the Ipoh Magistrates’ Court today.

According to reports, Mohamad Faizul had been evading police since 2018 and was apprehended in Ampang, Selangor. Authorities allege he skillfully impersonated various professionals, including a deputy public prosecutor and an engineer, to gain the trust of his victims. He was accused of tricking 60-year-old Latipah Ahmad Sudan into believing he could secure her a pilot position.

The fraudulent activity took place between December 22, 2016, and April 8, 2018, at an ATM in Gunung Rapat, Ipoh. The charge under Section 420 of the Penal Code carries a penalty of imprisonment for a minimum of one year and a maximum of ten years, along with whipping and fines.

Bail was set at RM4,500 after discussions in court, with the next hearing scheduled for November 27 to allow for document submissions and legal counsel appointments.

Mohamad Faizul’s arrest signifies the conclusion of a prolonged police investigation into multiple scams across various states, involving not only false job offers but also fraud related to electrical goods and equipment. Authorities believe he scammed victims out of millions of ringgit over the years, using his charm and quick wit to facilitate his deceitful schemes.
